I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake
Colossians 1:24
The Z household experienced an exciting change in October. On October 20 at 8:07am, Nora Evangeline was born. She weighed 8lb and was 21” long. She and Lynne are healthy and recovering well by God’s grace. Thank you for your prayers!
Nora - “light” or “shining light” - since we learned of her little life, she has been our little light amidst many dark and difficult circumstances. The most significant of which were two deaths in our family. Through her kicks, punches, and hiccups, God reminded us of His kindness amid the hardship.
Evangeline - “good news” or “glad tidings” - the only source of hope in this world is in Jesus’s gospel, the good news that on account of Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection, sinners can be counted righteous and at peace with the righteous God and that Jesus, the righteous Judge, will return to make all things new, right, and whole again. May He return quickly!
We long for our little girl to embrace wholeheartedly this gospel, having all her affections and attention directed toward Jesus, the only one worthy of such.
In my work with Dr. DeRouchie, I spent October helping him prepare an article for pastors and church members that reflects on Colossians 1:24–29. It includes the call for all to be involved in missions, whether as goers or as senders. A major takeaway is that suffering is God’s means of making known the message of Jesus’s worth to the world. May Christ persevere us through suffering, knowing that we are walking in His footsteps and actively proclaiming His worth as we suffer.
Prayer Requests:
Please pray that God would help us continue to settle in to our new lives here
Please pray as we acclimate to our new roles as parents
Please pray as we continue to raise support. So far, God has provided 62% of our monthly needs.
Thank you so much for your faithfulness to pray! May our God in Christ richly supply all your needs as you look and long for Jesus’s return.
Grace and peace to you in Jesus!
