The Baby, Drop-by, Embassy, and Transition

by Jonathan & Lynne Zavodney • December 2, 2024

Greetings in Jesus.

We hope your Thanksgiving Day was filled with, well, thanksgiving! Thanksgiving as you reflected on God’s faithfulness to you over the year and anticipate His faithfulness in the future. Lynne and I were unable to travel home this year, so we had the privilege of joining new church friends. Lynne and I are so grateful for you all, grateful for your partnership with us on our journey. The highpoints of the last month:

  1. The Baby - Our precious Nora continues to grow, smiling generously and hitting various milestones, and she enjoyed her first snowfall. Lynne’s sister graciously took newborn photos for us; we’ve included some for your edification. We’re grateful for your prayers.

  2. The Dear-Friend-Drop-By - Our dear friends of nearly our whole marriage dropped by our home! For them, that meant driving 8 hours one-way to spend less than 24 hours in Kansas City. They got to meet Nora who gave them lots of smiles, and we were able to join them for a short jaunt over the St. Louis to see the Arch and take a river boat tour. Nora’s first road trip. Our hearts were full (:

  3. The New Embassy - Since Lynne and I landed in Kansas City, we have been gathering with a team of people preparing to plant a church. Yesterday, Dec 1, this group, having come from several churches in the area, was planted as an outpost of heaven. We affirmed the church covenant and observed communion together, establishing a heavenly embassy in a growing area of Missouri that has little gospel witness. Please pray as we seek to treasure Christ, urge one another toward Christlikeness, and share Christ’s love with our neighbor. We long for Christ’s worth to be made known.

  4. The Transition - I will complete my Old Testament Prophets course this week and am eager to share the fruits of my labors. I will break for a week and begin a course on the Old Testament Historical Books. It is a joy to invest time and energy into this work!

We are exceedingly grateful for you all, grateful to have you along for the journey and invite you to magnify the Lord with us as we seek His glory among the nations. May our God in Christ richly bless you this Christmas season with greater apprehensions of Jesus to the end that your affections for Him are raised, your love of the world is diminished, and your longing for His return is multiplied.

Grace and peace to you in Jesus,
Jonathan, Lynne, & Nora
