Settling In, Gearing Up, and Getting Better

Yahweh is good to all, and His compassion is upon all His works ~ Psalm 145:9
Greetings in Jesus, dear friends.
God is good and faithfully sustaining the Z’s as we continue our journey. Here are the high points from January:
SCHOOL | I made final preparations for my week of class, which included finishing my presentation for the class. My presentation considers the legacy of Deuteronomy 31–34 in Joshua, Judges, 1–2 Samuel, and 1–2 Kings. I also started a French course, which is a blessing for two reasons: (1) There are people who are writing about the Bible in French; learning the language will (and already has started to) enable me to hear what they’re saying. (2) It will help me minister to places where French is spoken, like Cameroon, Africa where Lynne and I spent some time in 2022.
FELLOWSHIP | I was able to help Dr. DeRouchie make final edits to a short guide that will aid Christians in reading and applying the Old Testament. The Old Testament makes up 75% of our Bibles but often does not get mined for all the riches it has. I am eager to see it will bless local churches in their endeavors to know and treasure Christ through reading the Old Testament.
Z-HOME | It was a flurry of events in the Z home. We moved and got settled into our new place (pictures coming soon). It is a huge blessing, better than we could have asked for (if you’re ever in the Kansas City area, you’ve got a place to stay). And, we were able to host a worship night for our church family, which was such a gift! We’ve been onboarding for the Apartment Life Ministry. It’s been neat to meet some of our neighbors. We’re eager to see how God might be pleased to use us in this community. And, sadly, both Lynne and Nora contracted some virus, and were sick the last week of January, which was very sad. It was Nora’s first sickness! God sustained us, though, they’re almost recovered, and we are grateful!
We are so thankful for your faithfulness to pray. As you do, please pray:
• That God would continue to provide for our monthly financial needs. So far, he’s provided 72%.
• That God would give us wisdom as we seek to be faithful in our various spheres (home, school, fellowship, church, etc).
Grace and peace to you in Jesus,
Jonathan, Lynne, & Nora
